Your new role

The role of a Behaviour Therapist FSG involves working as part of a vibrant and energetic team in the delivery of group based early intervention supports for children engaged in the program. The role is dynamic and fast paced and requires supporting the team to apply therapist skills and knowledge in positive behaviour support to support clients and caregivers to address behaviour support needs. The Behaviour Therapist FSG role includes, but is not limited to:
  • Ensuring high quality services are delivered to clients and their families
  • Working collaboratively within the team to support clients and team members to implement positive behaviour support strategies
  • Identifying holistic and person-centred therapy goals and developing therapy plans underpinned by a positive behaviour support framework
  • In collaboration with the team, facilitating therapeutic interventions across all areas of child development
  • Working collaboratively with the team to conduct functional behaviour assessments and other appropriate standardised assessments to develop and report on individualised behaviour support strategies
  • Providing support and capacity building to other members of the FSG team, as well as parents and caregivers, to implement positive behaviour support strategies to address behaviour support needs
What you'll need to succeed
  • Minimum of an allied health degree in either Psychology, Developmental Education or related allied health degree and registration with relevant regulatory body
  • Current membership of the relevant professional association (e.g., AHPRA, DEAI)
  • A thorough practical working knowledge of human rights-based approaches in the disability sector
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience working within a positive behaviour support framework, including reducing restrictive practices
  • Knowledge of best practice in autism early childhood intervention
  • Demonstrated experience in working with children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Satisfactory DHS Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening and National Police Check
