Job description

Bendigo Queer Arts Festival Inc is an LGBTQIA+ peer-lead and volunteer-run organisation including Bendigo Pride Festival, Bendigo Queer Film Festival and Queer Country Arts Exhibition.

We are seeking a Festival Director to bring the next Pride Festival to fruition in the Bendigo region.

Role Description:

To plan, oversee and deliver the 2025 Bendigo Pride Festival. To lead on all aspects of festival development, programming, artist liaising. Production, reporting to and coordinating with the BQAF committee to deliver the programme, as well as reporting to a network of arts and cultural organisations locally and nationally.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with and report to the BQAF committee and co-curators on the development and delivery of the 2025 Bendigo Pride Festival.
  • Liaise and work closely with venues, partners, sponsors, suppliers, artists, technical staff and freelance contractors to understand and fulfil all artist and speaker technical requirements and needs.
  • Be the key point of contact for all administrative duties in relation to the festival, including permits, grants, contracts and reporting systems.
  • Coordinate the delivery of the programme, project management and operational logistics for all events.
  • Identify, sub-contract & manage a technical team, composed of paid technical assistants, interns and volunteers, as required.
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional plans to increase event attendance.
  • Provide on-site coordination during events to ensure seamless execution.
  • Manage event budgets and timelines reporting to BQAF committee on financial management including reports.
  • Coordinate technical resources and requirements efficiently and within set budgets.
  • Facilitate communication between the wider team and partners. 
  • Work with the committee and volunteers to meet the organisation's standards and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Experience in event planning or management, preferably within a professional association or non-profit organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in office programs like Microsoft Suite, Google Drive.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including outside core business hours.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Capacity to multitask, work under pressure and achieve deadlines.
  • A current Working with Children's check.
  • A passion for LGBTQIA+ community support and representation.
