About QIMR Berghofer:

About the Medical Genomics Group:
The Medical Genomics Group undertakes data driven research to understand disease by analysing the information encoded by the genome. We have a focus on cancer genomics and analyse data from a variety of next-generation sequence-based approaches. We are a laboratory of bioinformaticians and cancer biologists who work closely together with local, national, and international collaborators.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
Applications are invited for an experienced bioinformatician to join the Medical Genomics Group headed by Dr Nic Waddell.
This position involves working with a team of bioinformaticians to analyse while genome, exome, single-cell RNA-seq and RNA-seq data, including running comprehensive bioinformatic platforms. This will involve running established pipelines, optimising workflows to incorporate customised and publicly available algorithms, generating database queries and peer review of code.
About you:
We are seeking an applicant who has:
- A PhD or MSc degree in a relevant discipline such as Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science
- Experience in analysing RNA-seq and/or genome sequence data
- Proficiency in R and/or Python including experience using the Linux/Unix Operating System
- Proven experience working constructively as part of a team to achieve research outcomes
Remuneration: Salary range is $73,224 to $99,142p.a. plus super and salary packaging. Salary range will be determined by specific experience. This is a full-time appointment for 2 years.
