Job description

Clontarf Aboriginal College is a co-educational Catholic CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education) School in Perth that caters for Aboriginal students in Years 7-12. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for educationally marginalised students from metropolitan, rural and remote locations. Our on-site Boarding House provides a unique setting for students to develop lifelong skills whilst accessing a quality education.

We are seeking applications for the position of Boarding House Parent for our on-site boarding facility.  Immediate start available.

The role will involve leading and supervising young male and female Aboriginal students in a residential environment, contributing to their social, emotional, educational, physical and spiritual development. Shifts are rotated on weekdays and weekends and the House Parent is required to stay overnight.

Skills:

  • Experience in working with young males and females in leadership and support roles.
  • To be supportive of the Catholic ethos of Clontarf Aboriginal College.
  • The willingness to be a positive role model for male and female students.
  • Ability to problem solve, use initiative and be flexible.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Essential:

  • Current "C" Class Driver's Licence with PTD Authorisation (or willing to obtain ASAP)
  • A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check must be obtained - the online form is available on the Department of Education and Training website: https://www.education.wa.edu.au/ncchc
  • A current Working with Children Check - forms can be obtained from Australia Post outlets: https://auspost.com.au/locate/?services=86

Highly Desirable:

  • Current “HR” or “MR” Class Driver's Licence.
  • Experience in Boarding and Residential Care or Youth Work
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
