Continental Steel is an ambitious structural Steel Fabricator specialising in heavy steel construction and metallic structural works industry, based in the Southeast Suburbs of Melbourne.
We service all construction sectors such as residential, commercial & industrial (single and multilevel buildings, schools, hospitals, warehouses, car parks, offices, pavilions for exhibitions and fairs), as well as port plants, airport terminal and hangars, petrochemical plants and mining.

The successful candidate will work effectively with a minimum of supervision.
- Reading and interpret drawings and specifications to determine the correct set-up process and welding processes.
- Understanding the industry standards and requirements.
- Assembling heavy structural parts based on specifications provided.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of fabricated members.
- Using thermal cutting equipment on materials, cleaning and preparing surfaces for welding
- Preheating materials to the correct temperatures prior to welding processes
- Working with hand tools such as hammers, chisels, measuring tools, weld gauges…
- Working with Power tools such as buffing wheels, drills, polishers, and grinders.
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Welding with GMAW and FCAW welding, oxyacetylene cutting equipment and plasma cutting equipment.
- Flame heating, bending.
- Implementing the OHS procedures that are required to complete a job safely, including the use of the required (PPE)personal protective equipment for the job.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Use of overhead crane.
About you
- Qualification: Australian AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication or equivalent
- Experience: at least three years of relevant experience.
- Must be able to work alone while being supported in a small team environment.
- Good communication skills are a must both written and verbal.

- Hourly base rate compensation will be determined and based on experience.
- Ordinary hours are 40 hours per week.
- Afternoon shift 2:00pm to 10:30pm.
