Wheatbelt Steel is a division of the Ahrens family of brands and has been operating for the past 40 years; specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of quality steel sheds. Wheatbelt Steel builds sheds of the highest quality, including machinery sheds, fertiliser sheds, grain sheds, hay sheds, shearing sheds and poultry sheds for farms across Western Australia, with further growth taking sheds to the rest of Australia.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Welder/Boilermaker to join our rural team with a full time, permanent position available at Northam, WA. Competitive wages and opportunities for further growth within your career.
Key Responsibilities
- Read drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications;
- Ensure all welding procedures are of the highest quality;
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal using gas shielded metal arc;
- Examine work for defects, and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications;
- Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders and carbon rod gauging;
- Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products and notify supervisors;
- Display at all times behaviours that contribute to a co-operative successful team;
- Undertake all other reasonable tasks and duties within your skill and ability, as directed.
- Complying with the OHSE management plan;
Skills and Experience
- Trade Qualification – Fabrication (or equivalent experience);
- Minimum 2 years site experience;
- Driver’s Licence;
- Forklift Licence (desirable);
- Flexible approach and cooperative team attitude;
- Willingness to take undertake on-the-job training.
