The Role:

We seek the services of an experienced person to supervise the bottling of all wines, overseeing and maintaining the operation of the two on-site bottling lines. In addition, this role also involves supervision and training of a small team during bottling activities, ensuring that safety and quality controls are of the highest level.

This role would suit someone with mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 

This role will be a full time salary position, reporting to the Winemaker/Head of Production, with predominately Monday to Friday day shifts - some weekend work will be required from time to time.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on operation and supervision of the still and sparkling bottling lines.
  • Undertake schedule planning with the Winemaker to accommodate both Company and external customer requirements, meet bottling deadlines and coordinate packaging requirements with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organise and coordinate maintenance programs and servicing of critical bottling equipment.
  • Service and maintain the bottling equipment & machinery in a hands-on capacity (most routine maintenance and parts replacement performed in-house, so mechanical skills are essential)
  • Maintain packaging inventory, working with Winemaker and Stock Controller to ensure supply chain meets sales and production demands.
  • Assist with the logistics and storage of finished goods (liaise with Stock Controller and Warehouse).
  • Supervise and train/coach production staff (and any other staff assisting with bottling) to improve staff competencies and ensure safe, efficient bottling and packaging processes.
  • Assist as required in other areas of Production and Warehouse during non-bottling periods, including winery production work and warehouse organisation, etc.
  • Operate forklift.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in your application you will need to possess the following knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in food or beverage packaging, preferably in operating and maintaining a variety of semi-automated bottling machinery. Wine packaging experience will be highly regards, however experience in packaging other beverages would also be relevant.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is essential – this is a hands-on role.
  • A trade qualification in mechanical engineering or fitting and turning, would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in repairs and maintenance of machinery with many moving parts.
  • Ability to operate and maintain bottling equipment in a safe manner.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Experience in supervision/training of a small team would be advantageous.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time (a pre-employment medical will be required) 
  • Basic computer skills 
  • Forklift certification, or willingness to obtain certification sap, is essential.
  • Open and unrestricted drivers licence
  • Full working rights to work in Australia
