About the Position

This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated manager of community radio to apply their radio and coordination skills with an Indigenous-owned media organisation.

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll manage the day-to-day operations of the radio studio to produce and deliver quality broadcasting through 8KIN and the RIBS network.  You’ll coordinate programming, produce engaging radio content on a variety of subjects and themes of interest and importance to our audience, maintain the technical setup for local and online broadcasts and explore opportunities and new ideas.

Importantly, you’ll work closely with a diverse staff team at various skill levels, passing on your radio skills and knowledge by providing training and support to build their capabilities and confidence.

In addition to understanding the fundamentals of radio programming and making and editing audio / digital content, you’ll be familiar with studio automation systems (ZETTA); and understand or be able to rapidly learn radio sales traffic automation (ACQUIRA).

About You

We are seeking an experienced radio practitioner (ideally in a not-for-profit context) with demonstrated abilities in bringing a staff team together and building their capabilities to deliver quality broadcasting and on-demand Content

You’ll have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of radio studio operations including programming, broadcasting, producing and editing audio and digital content; as well as broadcast/digital technologies, equipment and relevant software.

In addition to highly developed communication skills and practical hands-on management capability, ideally you’ll also have a sound understanding of community broadcasting and regulatory requirements and the political, social and economic factors that affect Indigenous people.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

What’s On Offer

This role will appeal to candidates with good experience in radio broadcasting along with strong people management and training capabilities.  You may be looking for the next step in building your radio career, or may be attracted to the unique opportunity to work in Indigenous media making a contribution to cultural and community well-being.

An appealing base salary will be negotiated depending on experience (range $100,000- $110,000), and benefits include 5 weeks annual leave, salary sacrifice, personal use of a vehicle and relocation allowances.
