About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Building Surveyor to join our Development Assessment and Building Certification Department. Reporting to the Coordinator Building Approvals, this position is responsible for assessing, determining and monitoring a wide range of applications in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
In addition to the above, this position is responsible for undertaking all critical stage building inspections and the assessment of small-scale development applications.
This position plays an integral role in contributing to the delivery of organisational outcomes and Council's Building Services Operational Plan.
This is a great opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and experience as a Building Surveyor as MidCoast Council assesses a wide range of applications and provides full in-house certification services.
What you'll bring
To be eligible for this position you will:
hold a Building Surveyor accreditation (or be eligible for accreditation) under the Building Professionals Act at the level of A3 or higher;
have extensive experience as a Building Surveyor (or similar role);
hold a recognised tertiary qualification in Building Surveying and/or Environmental Planning & Health;
have a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including the Local Government Act 1993, BCA, Environmental Assessment Act 1979 and the Swimming Pools Act 1992.
Our ideal candidate will have complex experience and understanding of the development application assessment process.

Salary: Approximate salary range of $88,700 - $106,440 p.a. plus superannuation (subject to skills and experience).
A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. MidCoast Council's vehicle arrangements provide you with two options:
The payment of a Vehicle Allowance equating to approximately $10,450 p/a; or
A Leaseback Vehicle this is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
