The Open Space department is responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of Kingston City Council's vast open spaces. As one of five teams within the department, the Bushland and Foreshore team’s focus is on managing the 13km of foreshore and 78ha of natural reserves to protect and enhance local biodiversity and provide a positive visitor experience to these wonderful open space assets.

About the role

We are seeking a Bushland Coordinator professional to join the Bushland and Foreshore team. Reporting to the Team Leader Bushland and Foreshore, your role is to:

  • Oversee the daily management of programmed and reactive works across the Bushland reserves, including triaging of customer requests
  • Be accountable for the effective delivery and implementation of the on-ground initiatives identified in the Biodiversity Strategy
  • Work to increase engagement and involvement in volunteer groups and events across the bushland reserves
  • Assist with the management of the contractors by attending contract meetings, undertaking regular performance and OH&S audits and ensuring accurate quality assurance records

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Qualification in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or similar
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a large, diverse team of land management professionals
  • Demonstrated experience in Project/Contract/Contractor Management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing biodiversity assets in a peri-urban environment
