  • 2 Year, full time Traineeship

  • Salary as per the Higher Education Industry – General Staff Award + superannuation

This is a recruitment strategy to increase UOW Aboriginal workforce.

This position will work within the Indigenous Strategy and Engagement Unit. Support for the two service streams within the unit where focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student experience and success and provision of holistic support across all levels of the university is a priority.

The Business Administration Traineeship is an opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to undertake a recognised qualification in Business Services while gaining hands on experience in a culturally safe environment. 

As the first point of contact for the portfolio, you will have excellent communications skills to welcome clients, answer, respond and triage enquiries that are received via phone, email, in person or through other communication channels. 

You will learn the ins and outs of providing high quality administration and secretarial support, including how to coordinate meetings, conferences, catering and travel arrangements effectively and efficiently. 

The Business Administration Trainee will be required to provide assistance to the Administration Officer and to the broader Indigenous Strategy Unit, exposing them to a broader range of business processes to assist in their professional development. 

The successful candidate must meet the following job requirements:

  • Proof of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage
  • Successful completion of Year 12 
  • Eligible to enrol in a Certificate IV in Business Services
  • Obtain a Working with Children Check
