As a Business Analyst, the primary accountability of this position is to elicit, analyse, define and document customer needs and product requirements through the entire project lifecycle while providing subject matter expertise and support to other Business Analysts. You will be joining our growing team to provide subject matter expertise, develop and implement best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our project management processes.
The Role
As a Business Analyst, you'll be at the centre of defining and managing project activities, ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic goals. You'll contribute to selecting effective requirements approaches, tools, and techniques, adeptly eliciting, capturing, and articulating both functional and non-functional requirements. Your expertise extends to identifying stakeholder communication and relationship needs, facilitating open discussions, and providing insightful feedback to foster shared understanding. You'll actively encourage input from external and internal stakeholders, offering constructive challenges and enabling efficient prioritization of requirements. Additionally, you'll establish requirements baselines, secure formal agreement to requirements, and ensure traceability to their sources. Your investigative skills will prove crucial in navigating complex and ambiguous business scenarios, facilitating business decision-making processes, and capturing and disseminating technical and business information.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage project activities' scope, requirements, and priorities.
- Contribute to the selection of the requirements approach, tools, and techniques.
- Elicit, capture, and articulate functional and non-functional business requirements, business processes, business rules, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Identify stakeholder groups' communication and relationship needs and facilitate open discussion between stakeholders while providing informed feedback to assess and promote shared understanding.
- Facilitate input from external and internal stakeholders, provide constructive challenge, and enable effective prioritisation of requirements.
- Establish requirements baselines, obtain formal agreement to requirements, and ensure traceability to the source.
- Investigate complex and ambiguous business situations, facilitate business decision-making processes, and capture and disseminate technical and business information.
- Define, evaluate, and describe business change options for technical and business feasibility while demonstrating in-depth knowledge of organisation-specific techniques.
- Adopt a holistic view of identifying and analysing problems, opportunities, and options.
- Support the preparation of business cases, including cost/benefit, impact, and risk analysis for each option, and develop metrics and mechanisms to monitor the realisation of benefits.
- Analyse and design business processes to identify alternative solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and exploit new technologies and automation.
- Conduct business acceptance testing to ensure that systems, products, and services fulfil the acceptance criteria.
- Conduct root cause analysis and identify recommendations for improvements.
- Act as a conduit between the technology/engineering teams and the business/product teams.
- Business Analytics qualification, accreditation, or certification (e.g. IIBA - BABOK )
- Over 5 years experience as a Business Analyst or similar role
- Sound understanding and experience in Agile and Waterfall frameworks and tools (e.g. Scaled Agile Framework - SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, PMP or PRINCE2)
- Proficient in tools used for business analysis, process modelling and collaboration ( e.g. Atlassian, Figma, Miro, Orbus, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace etc. )
- Familiar with AI and Automation tools to improve productivity, efficiency and throughput across the Business Analysis practice
- Experience working for or closely with a SaaS provider
- Experience working with Student Management Systems
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems
- Experience in the Education and/or VET sector
- Experience in a matrix operating environment
