About the role
This position will develop and implement strategies for the promotion, development and leadership of Greater Geelong and The Bellarine as a tourism destination, in particular positioning the region for Business Events and international travel trade.
Key responsibilities include:
Conduct quality sales appointments to generate leads for the region. Sales efforts will be self-directed in order to ensure the retention, development and acquisition of all client enquiries based on the needs of venues and accommodation, professional services and rewarding experiences within the region.
Maintain and actively seek to grow membership in the region working closely with the Memberships and Partnerships team to drive growth. Regularly host industry forums and networking events for members resulting in business-to-business opportunities.
Develop, implement and evaluate strategic tactical marketing and communications campaigns to increase brand awareness and aid in sales lead generation to increase business events across the region.
In cooperation with the Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine Strategy, create and implement a sales and business plan for the Business Events Geelong Unit and strategies for marketing and industry development relating to groups and incentive travel to the region with a focus on identified themes and niche markets.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary qualification in Marketing or Tourism or substantial experience and professional qualifications relating to the business events, groups, incentive or international tourism industry, and the following experience:
Demonstrated success in business to business sales via lead generation in the business events sector with success increasing sales in a similar position.
Thorough knowledge of the Australian domestic and international tourism industry structure and the Business Events industry, its stakeholders and contemporary issues.
Experience in the management of events, groups and incentive travel in a regional context including the securing, delivery and evaluation of business events.
Ability to coordinate and represent the region at tradeshows and familiarisation tours.
