Business Intelligence Manager

Full-time, ongoing role based in Hobart, Launceston or Burnie
About the opportunity
Join the Strategy, Lean, Analytics and Projects team at the University of Tasmania as a Business Intelligence Manager. You will lead a small team that creates, develops and enhances key institutional reports to support data-based decisions throughout the University.
As our successful candidate, with your advanced technical, analytic and communication skills, you will create and implement cutting-edge Business Intelligence solutions. You will collaborate with stakeholders from various portfolios and academic units within the institution to determine Business Intelligence requirements and solutions and keep abreast of the latest Business Intelligence trends and technologies to find ways to enhance reporting capabilities.
What you’ll do:
Manage the design, development and delivery of key institutional dashboards and standardised analytic reporting that can enable data-driven decision making.
Manage and coach a small team of analysts and drive a culture of accountability, excellence, and high performance.
Build and maintain effective, active and trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve the institution’s Business Intelligence capabilities.
Build effective partnerships with analytics teams across the institution, notably the Data Warehouse and Strategic Analytics team within the Strategic, Analytics, Lean and Projects unit.
The Business Intelligence Manager will receive broad direction from the Executive Director, Strategy and is expected to exercise a high degree of autonomy. You will be expected to use initiative and provide advice across a broad range of areas.
­What we’re looking for:
Knowledge or training equivalent to:
tertiary qualifications in information technology, statistics, computer science,, business or related analytical field with at least 3 years subsequent work experience, ideally in a large and complex organisation, or;
an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
High-level technical skill and knowledge in data modelling, data visualisation and data analytics.
Highly experienced in developing and maintaining reports.
Proven ability to lead and manage a high-performing team of analysts.
Excellent project management skills with the ability to take initiative, prioritise tasks, manage workflows.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of an organisation.
Demonstrated ability to establish and foster effective and trusting working relationships.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $151,543 comprising base salary within the range of $122,887 to $129,524 plus 17% superannuation.
