What's the role about?
The BI Specialist will drive standardisation, automation and reusability of reporting solutions and analytical products to deliver consistent, actionable information and insights across the enterprise for business and functional support areas. You will also support the delivery of revenue growth and drive data driven decision making, leveraging existing tools to present the information to internal or external audiences.​
  • Implement and optimise visualisation, dashboarding, reporting, process and analytical solutioning through standardisation and automation by leveraging tools and proven methodology while using storytelling to drive business thinking.
  • Implement scalable standardized reports and self-service solutions to reduce the overall amount on reports and time spent on creating and maintaining reports
  • Collect requirements from stakeholders and leverage knowledge of the key components and relationships of Assurant products, distribution channels, customer base, systems and data into solution designs for effective reporting.
  • Direct efforts to ensure supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are stable and highly available, cost efficient, and at an appropriate level of technical maturity.
  • Provide effective, flexible and secure BI solutions that support business strategy and operations.
  • Ensure change management and quality assurance practices are understood, adhered to, and leveraged to enhance system health and quality.
  • Collaborate with other IT departments/disciplines to ensure that changes to the BI, ETL and warehouse environments are instituted at an appropriate level of quality, cost, and architectural consistency.
  • Function as the lead BI and data modeler on highly complex or sensitive development projects for the department, division, or enterprise.
Does this sound like you?
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Business, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the fields of insurance, analytics and reporting
  • Experienced in visualization techniques
  • Broad in PowerBI, Excel, SSRS and Tableau
  • Profound in SharePoint, PowerApps, MSFlow, SQL and/or SAS
  • Designing highly automated descriptive analytics & reporting solutions
  • Building, integrating and managing databases
  • Creating data models, especially within the PowerBI stack
  • Exceptionally effective and adaptable communication style to cater for both technical and non-technical departments
