Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Business Readiness Maintenance Specialist, the Business Readiness Technical Writer will apply knowledge, skills and experience to effectively create and or update technical documentation related to business readiness activities in term of Mine Maintenance (MIN-MAN) for the Tanami Expansion 2 (TE 2) project. The project is located in the Northern Territory and forms part of Newmont Tanami Operations (NTO) who is one of the key stakeholders.

This is a 2/2 FIFO position, working 12hr days, from either Darwin, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Perth.

In this role you will:
Gain extensive knowledge of the NTO mine site, existing infrastructure, mining equipment, maintenance strategies, operational procedures, supply chain, health and safety, logistics, site conditions and key stakeholders.
Collaborate with key stakeholders for the creation of technical documentation for the maintenance and operation requirements for equipment forming part of the design
Engage with site and industry equipment subject matter experts and specialists to gain a better understanding of maintenance and operational work method steps
Provide regular updates to the Business Readiness Maintenance Specialist for the project to enable accurate forecasting
Ensure compliance with all Newmont’s global asset management standards, guidance’s and review processes
Follow the processes, STP/SOP’s, metrics and tools for mine maintenance that will be required and developed during Stage 4 to adequately support the Mining operations underground using management operating system guidelines, as applicable
Develop high quality technical documentation within site software packages to support maintenance strategies and requirements to ensure the equipment performs to meet the functional requirements
Autonomously research technical information relating to the development of detailed step by step instructions for the maintenance and operation of plant equipment
Assist in the development of plant specific training packages
Assist in the identification of changes/additions to management systems (MOS & ERP)

Yours skills, knowledge and experience checklist:
Experience in the mining industry (within Australia or outside Australia) with demonstrated experience in technical writing
Shaft and hoisting systems (Winders), primary crushing circuits, conveyor circuits and associated infrastructure
Familiar with technical writing software packages such as route maintenance and zone maintenance
A Mechanical or Electrical Trade Qualification (advantageous)
A self-starter with the ability to create and or update technical documentation associated with a vertical shaft hoisting system and crushing circuit along with the associated surface and underground infrastructure
Ability to produce high quality technical documentation targeted at the trade and operator level
Ability to work autonomously and research technical information relating to the development of detailed step by step instructions for the maintenance and operation of plant equipment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
PC skills and computer literacy with familiarisation of various software packages associated with the project controls discipline including MS Office suite, MS Project, document control systems, and Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
