Butcher Wholesale and Portion Cutters

Wrights the Butchers is a leading Import, Export, Wholesale, and retail butchery company based in Alexandria. The company supplies Restaurants, Clubs, Café, Hotels, Resorts, Airlines and Cruise Ships locally and internationally.

We are market leaders in the import of Spanish hams, Italian prosciutto, and Japanese Wagyu beef.

We seek fully qualified butchers able to assist with the daily operation of our Wholesale and retail meat business to be able to work with minimal management with a wage negotiable to match that person’s experience. 

About the role

We have several positions available in our Wholesale factory and seek passionate and energetic tradespeople with good time management and forward thinkers.

We are looking for Portion Cutters, Order packers and retail butchers able to assist with the daily preparation of orders for our Hotel and Restaurant clients, along with working with our other team members to rotate stock and stock levels for our Wholesale and retail stores.

  This is a permanent hands-on role with an early start and finish, so previous experience would be an advantage.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Large-scale fresh meat handling
• Able to Portion cut Meat. 
• Preparation of Meat for our retail display.
• Meeting production schedules and KPIs/targets
• Cutting/trimming Meat to customer specifications
• Keeping records and inventory control 
• Working in a cold environment
• Supervising as well as Weighing and packaging numerous meat products 
• Managing our HACCP Policy while maintaining high levels of hygiene
• Demonstrating good safety practices
• Other related activities as required by the business.

About you:

• Full work rights – essential, e.g. citizen, permanent resident holder
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Knife handling skills
• Relevant qualification (Cert 3 Meat processing)
• Experience in the food manufacturing industry
