THE ROLE:

As a cadet Fire Systems Designer, you will be working on a large range of projects, helping the senior designers by producing design drawings and documentation of building fire protection systems from concept through to detailed design. You will be provided with strong support and mentoring from fellow designers as well as our design manager who you will be reporting to.  You will also be given the opportunity to further improve your skills and knowledge with learning and development courses external to our business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Production of engineering drawings for various fire protection systems
  • Word processing and general office duties
  • Collaborate with our clients, architects, consultants and authorities
  • Develop a good understanding of the fire industry and Australian Standards

Prerequisites and skills:

  • Completed or in the process of completing a diploma in mechanical engineering or similar
  • A strong knowledge of drafting software and techniques
  • Proficient in 2D AutoCAD with a willingness to learn other programs 
  • Exposure to Revit MEP is desirable but not essential 
  • Excel, Word, Outlook and other general computing skills
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
