Cadet (Materials Technician)

In the role of Cadet (Materials Technician) you will be required to work with a diverse group of individuals in a laboratory setting, you will be involved in the sampling and testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, bitumen and asphalt used in road transport infrastructure construction and you will gain experience in the operation and calibration of state-of-the-art testing equipment used in the laboratory.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
* Under supervision:
* Perform materials testing procedures under supervision in accordance with departmental standards, specifications, policies and procedures.
* Assist with investigation and research projects using project management principles.
* Assist in the analysis of test data and the drafting and preparation of technical reports.
* Participate in all prescribed training and development opportunities.
* Attend all required classes (including lectures, tutorials and practicals) and pass and successfully complete all examinations and assessments required to obtain your qualification, as described under 'mandatory requirements'.

Mandatory Requirements
* Cadets are required to be studying or enrolled in:
* Associate Degree of Civil Engineering or
* Advanced Diploma of Civil Engineering or
* Equivalent qualification accredited under the Dublin Accord.
Desirable Requirements
* Valid Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence or equivalent may be required.
