About the role

Greenacres is seeking Café Supervisors to play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our vibrant cafes in Wollongong and Shellharbour, focusing on supporting a team of employees with disabilities.

The Café Supervisor's primary responsibilities include ensuring customers' expectations are met, maintaining high food and hygiene standards, adhering to the National Standards for Disability Services, and overseeing the seamless functioning of the café. In addition to possessing excellent coffee-making skills, the Supervisor will be well-presented, demonstrate proficiency in cash management and administration, and have experience in staff supervision and direction.

The successful candidate will contribute to the success of our cafes while also playing a vital role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for our team of employees with disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the Café.
  • Clean and maintain café areas as required.
  • Serve beverage/food items to café customers using correct tools and presentation.
  • Daily ordering from several suppliers, including stock and wastage control. 
  • Liaise with suppliers and report on product issues to organise credit notes.
  • Coordinating internal catering, including providing quotes, advising on recommended requirements and liaising with client/s before and on the day of the function.
  • Organising purchase orders, including creating and sending sundry invoice requests whilst following end-of-month requirements.
  • Checking daily financial reports, ensuring they are correct and updating relevant spreadsheets.
  • Provide ongoing training and development for Supported Employees

Benefits and perks

This position is paid in accordance with Supported Employment Services Awards at $37.08 per hour, plus 11% superannuation per annum. In addition, you can increase the cash in your pocket (less tax) with not-for-profit salary packaging and free counselling via the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Skills and experience

  • Great customer service skills
  • Experience working with computer-based POS systems
  • A basic understanding of Excel Spreadsheets and PowerPoint
  • Ability to operate a cash register and EFTPOS terminal, collect payments from customers, issue receipts where needed and balance daily receipts for monies received
  • Ensure all Café Assistants/Baristas are trained in the safe work methods policies/procedures, including making sure daily tasks and checklists are completed
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with the cafe's health and hygiene procedures, quality and safety measures
  • Conduct one-on-one chats and team meetings when necessary to encourage team morale and smooth operation of the café
  • Experience with social media platforms for media and advertising
  • Catering knowledge and food prep skills
  • Vast understanding of different dietary needs and requirements

Probity Requirements for the Role:

  1. Drivers Licence
  2. First Aid Certificate
  3. National Police Check
  4. NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety & You (to be obtained if successful for the role)
  5. NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) (to be obtained if successful for the role)
  6. The Right to Work in Australia
  7. Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to obtain immediately
