About the opportunity:
Are you a qualified Industrial Electrician and looking for an exciting career change? Transgrid is offering comprehensive training and hands-on experience tailored to accelerate your career as a Secondary Systems Technician.
Throughout the Development Program you will learn the necessary skills required to perform Secondary Systems Technical work at Transgrid, including protection relay and scheme testing, metering accuracy testing, electrical fault finding in a substation environment and an introduction into substation high voltage equipment. The Development Program is approximately 6 months in duration, and after the successful completion of the training you will be a permanent full-time Grade 1 Secondary System Technician.

Key responsibilities:
- Participate in a 6-month intensive training program as part of your development towards becoming as a Secondary Systems Technician
Upon successful completion of training program:
Responsible for the maintenance, installation and commissioning of Substation Protection and Metering Systems ensuring that all secondary systems will perform to the required design parameters
Provide high quality technical advice and support
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and customers
Lead work teams in the field
Provide standby support for emergency incidents, including loss of supply
Work and operate in a manner which supports the Health and Safety outcomes of our people and our business

15.5% Superannuation
Allowances, including working away from home sustenance, paid at the ATO rate
Compensation for travel time at overtime rates (1.5x for the first two hours, 2.0x thereafter, and 2.0x on Sundays)
Minimum 4 hours paid at the overtime rate for non-merged overtime.

To be considered, you must have:
Possession of an appropriate qualification;
Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent Electrical Trade Certificate
Electrical trade experience
Knowledge in the application of WHS and environmental legislation relative to duties of the position
Sound understanding of fault finding and including the ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams
Sound interpersonal skills (including written and oral communication)
Knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Good computer skills and knowledge of computer packages such as Microsoft word, Outlook, Excel.
Ability to work in a team environment and work autonomously
Familiarity and experience in the use of "Wiring Rules" and other relevant Australian Standards
A current driver's licence
Strong safety culture
Appreciation and sensitivity of difference and diversity
An Australian permanent residency or an Australian or New Zealand citizenship
Ability to travel and spend substantial time working away from home and base location, dependent on the work demands of the organisation
