We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, statewide and hospital-based services / perinatal women.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists within CAMHS to join us as a Clinical Neuropsychologist.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide neuropsychological service for children, adolescents, and families with complex neurological, medical and mental health issues.
  • Neuropsychological services will include direct clinical consultation and liaison with medical and mental health teams, clinical assessment of children with complex medical conditions, and providing education, feedback and counselling to achieve better health outcomes for patients and families.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team where your clinical knowledge and skills are utilised to guide and educate other staff members, as well as accessing their expertise to guide your clinical work.
  • Lead and participate in action research projects, quality improvement activities, and policy development.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Appropriate degree (Master’s degree or Clinical Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology) or equivalent qualification as recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA)
  • Must hold provisional or general registration with AHPRA, and be eligible to participate in AHPRA registrar program for endorsement in clinical neuropsychology
  • Clinical experience in treating complex neuropsychological and mental health issues in children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge of clinical neuropsychology theory and practice, developmental theory, assessment and intervention models, social contexts and mental health, and government policies impacting child, adolescent, and family health services.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a high level of responsibility, as well as collaborate and communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Skills in liaising with a range of other agencies across SA that support children, adolescents and their families.
  • Dedication to professional skill development including supervising and supporting postgraduate students.
