CAPTOS Manager, Psychological Medicine, Sydney Children's Hospital Network - Health Services Manager Level 3. Permanent Part-time position - 24 hours per week. This position provides overall coordination of the CAPTOS Service which provides child and adolescent telepsychiatry services throughout NSW and provides patient-centred consultations and supervision delivered via videoconferencing, and includes input from psychiatry, psychology, social work and family therapists. What you'll be doing

The Child & Adolescent Psychological Telemedicine Outreach Service (CAPTOS) started as a pilot service in 1996 and now provides child and adolescent telepsychiatry services throughout NSW. Services started with child psychiatrists consulting to rural families, with rural mental health workers. The service now extends to patient-centred consultations and supervision delivered via videoconferencing, and includes input from psychiatry, psychology, social work and family therapists in addition to direct consultation to children, young people and families. Clinicians also provide a face-to face service through rural visits, for both clinical consultation and provision of education sessions. The CAPTOS Clinical and Education Manager's position provides overall coordination of the service. The position holder provides regular reports on the service to NSW Health and other bodies, including an Annual Report. The position requires the ongoing development of systems for service monitoring, outcome assessment and continuous service improvement. The position holder coordinates the service, including liaison with rural clinicians and service directors, ensuring clinician availability for clinical consultation and rural site visits, trouble-shooting technical issues, and leading and coordinating the program of clinical supervision and education sessions. The Manager also provides treating clinician supervision and education. The Manager is expected to develop a research interest in line with the position. The successful applicant will be expected to spend up to twenty (20) days per year travelling to rural and remote areas.

  1. A degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience.
  2. Significant relevant recent experience working with children, adolescents and families in a mental health setting, including experience in complex clinical case management.
  3. Demonstrated highly developed and effective leadership and management skills in mental health settings, including the capacity to manage a team and develop, monitor and achieve strategic outcomes and business plans.
  4. Demonstrated highly developed and effective interpersonal skills in communication, negotiation and delegation.
  5. Demonstrated experience in provision of adult training and/or education.
  6. Demonstrated experience in research, including professional publication
  7. Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement and take responsibility for developing standards, practices, policies and procedures in light of changing service needs
  8. Current NSW Drivers Licence

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Applicants holding visas with working rights may be considered for temporary appointment (up to the expiry date of their visa) where no suitable local applicant is identified.
