Expression of Interest for sessional teaching and assessment marking in the STEM College – School of Engineering – Civil and Infrastructure Engineering.

  • Based in Melbourne CBD
  • Casual hours commencing as soon as possible

About the Role and Your Responsibilities

The School of Engineering aims to provide globally recognised practical, relevant, and innovative programs, research and industry training. RMIT is a leader in electronic and telecommunications engineering. Our graduates find jobs working on maintaining, updating, designing or improving electronic and telecommunications technology for major industries such as broadband and mobile operators, the defence industry, manufacturing, health and other educational and government organisations. Across all levels of study, industry input ensures courses keep pace with current trends. Taught by experts in the field, the courses combine laboratory sessions, design, research and theory to ensure graduates are highly skilled professionals.

To help to support student learning we require passionate and experienced staff that will prepare and deliver teaching and / or marking. We welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to register their interest to teach and/or mark on a casual basis within the Discipline.

The volume, nature and availability of sessional teaching will vary based on the needs of the Discipline including course offerings, timetabling and student demand.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualification of Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or above.
  • Evidence of teaching ability and the capacity to engage students in an enthusiastic, concise, engaging, and informative manner.
  • Demonstrable ability to grade student assessment and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the following fields: Geometric road design, vertical and horizontal alignment, cross-sections, Austroads Guide to Road Design, AutoCAD software.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of requisite content, research, and writing skills for course/s taught within Civil and Infrastructure Engineering programs.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Employment is subject to the successful attainment of an Employee Working with Children Check.
