Duties include:

• Maintains and updates knowledge to ensure safe practice and the delivery of quality food to residents
• Prepares and distributes food in accordance with the Food Safety Program
• Demonstrates a positive attitude to the role and responsibilities of the position
• Assists the Chef with cooking and other duties as directed
• Meets residents needs and wants including the preparation of dining rooms for meals, the plating and delivery of meals, providing beverages to residents, and the preparation of meals consistent with the residents’ preferences and documented dietary needs
• Adheres to safe food handling practice and in accordance with the Food Safety Program
• Ensures the safe storage and handling of food
• Prepares food under the direction of the Chef
• Assists in the cooking of food as directed
• Follows infection control guidelines
   

About you:

• A calm and unhurried approach to meeting the personal needs of care recipients.
• Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• You must be willing and able to work on weekends.
   

Qualifications and Experience:

• Possession of current Food Handling certificate, or prepared to obtain certificate as requested by Catering Manager.
• Preference will be given to those who have a Cert III in Commercial Cookery.
• Previous cooking experience highly desired.

Employment Pre-Requisite

• A current Police Check that does not preclude working in Aged Care.
• Mandated vaccinations:
  • Participate in Proserpine Nursing Home annual (or more often as required) vaccination clinic/s; OR 
  • Provide evidence of vaccination/s given elsewhere: OR
  • Provide evidence in the form of a doctor’s certificate stating there is a valid medical reason for not having the vaccination/s (if applicable).
• Comfortable wearing N95 masks daily
