About CatholicCare NT and the Program

CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.

The Community Development Program (CDP) provides intensive case management support to address the needs of Aboriginal people who are unemployed to provide opportunities that lead to positive social and economic outcomes for families and their community. By creating employment opportunities in partnership with the local community, job seekers gain useful employability skills and meaningful qualification through attendance in activities which increase job opportunities.

About the role

The CDP Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating training to job seekers and community members across Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa), Titjikala and Finke communities according to the community needs and labour market needs. This position has a particular focus on upskilling job seekers to address barriers to employment and upskill job seekers by coordinating vocational and non-vocational training and working collaboratively with Case Managers, Mentors, stakeholders, Job Coach, stakeholders, community members and training providers.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated ability to use technology including intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Outlook and other electronic database systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including case note and report writing and the ability to communicate with providers across a range of diverse cultural groups.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
  • Demonstrated ability in providing quality case management, tailored assistance, addressing job seeker barriers and preparing them to be job ready
