Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, safety focused collaborative team player to join our Operations department in the role of Cemetery Team Member.
You will be a great communicator, customer driven, empathetic and able to handle sensitive situations.
Working in small teams on a rotational basis and under the direction of the Leading Hand, your specific tasks will include:
Burials
- Prepare burial sites, including digging, site preparation and completion of final presentation
- Safe and effective operation and maintenance of plant and equipment
- Participate and facilitate additional service requirements including Pallbearing, Memorial Services and other events as required
- Maintain and upkeep Cemetery Gardens
Crematorium
- Operate crematorium facility to the highest standard of care
- Receive and transfer coffins and caskets
- Install and remove plaques and ashes in Memorial Gardens
- Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with Centennial Park’s Records Management Policy and legislative requirements.
Grounds and Gardens
- Perform landscaping duties such as planting, mowing, irrigation and general garden maintenance to uphold the aesthetic beauty of the grounds and gardens
- Safely operate groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers and pruning tools
- Routine maintenance of assets, buildings, facilities, roads and cemetery paths
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Great communication skills, love dealing with people and be able to build effective team relationships
- Focussed on safety, be adaptable and empathetic
- A Current Australian drivers license with no restrictions
- Relevant tickets/licences for the operational environment will be viewed favourably (MR license, Work Zone Traffic Management, LE/LF/LL tickets), however all training can be provided
