Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is now looking to appoint a Centre Communications and Media ManagerThis is a full-time, 5 year fixed-term contract and is based at the JCU Cairns Nguma-bada campus, Smithfield.

How you’ll make a difference

As the Centre Communications and Media Manager, you will lead the delivery of sector-leading, high-quality communication strategies for internal and external communications that support the delivery of the CIEHF’s objectives.   Additionally, you will create high-quality and informative website content for the CIEHF ensuring information is accurate, accessible and meets target audience requirements. You’ll also develop strong and positive working relationships across the University as you collaborate closely with the Client Services and Communications Team to identify information needs and inform content creation. 

What you’ll bring 

We're seeking someone who can develop a dynamic communication and engagement strategy across traditional and digital channels and produce highly engaging and impactful social media content that drives audience engagement and advances key messaging objectives.  You will demonstrate experience in developing and implementing high-quality strategic media, Communications and public relations campaigns that consistently deliver tangible results and outcomes.  Your highly effective communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills are essential as you’ll take the initiative in leadership, connection, and collaboration with stakeholders and the community to deliver engaging and diverse content and experiences that leave a lasting impact.

About the CIEHF

ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures aims to generate a new direction in knowledge creation based on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led approaches to managing Land and Sea Country. The Centre expects to make a legacy contribution by developing complementary Indigenous and Western knowledge frameworks for modelling environmental, cultural, and historical change in Australia over the last millennium and into the near future.
