Job description

The Centre for Eye Health (CFEH) is an initiative of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and The University of New South Wales. The Centre exists to help reduce preventable vision loss from eye disease through early detection. To achieve this, the Centre provides advanced ocular imaging, diagnostic, and management services at no cost to patients in New South Wales.The RoleAs a CFEH Staff Optometrist you will contribute to and further develop excellence in clinical diagnostic and management services, research and teaching at Centre for Eye Health at UNSW and Parramatta as required. This is a part time role, 3 days a week. We are offering a 12 month contract with the possibility of extension depending on business needs. This role would suit an enthusiastic team player interested in working to full optometric scope in posterior eye ocular disease diagnosis and management.AccountabilitiesSpecific accountabilities for this role include:Provide an excellent clinical service to clients, including the diagnosis and management of ocular disease incorporating the use and interpretation of ocular diagnostic and imaging equipment working within the scope of practice of a therapeutically qualified optometrist. This would include personally seeing clients and being responsible for their overall care.
Assist with the planning of workflow and daily patient allocation based on staffing, services/equipment and teaching requirements.
Generate case reports.
Supervise technical staff.
Participate in and provide input to clinical case discussions and modify clinical techniques to suit current standard of care.
Liaise with referring practitioners, preparing reports and data files for transmission to relevant practitioner(s).
Assist with the overseeing of clinic attendance of final year Optometry students engaged in Work Integrated Learning activitySkills and ExperienceMust be registered with AHPRA as a therapeutically qualified optometrist in Australia.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Commitment to excellence in patient care.
Interest in developing coaching and mentoring skills desirable.
Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication skills to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
