Aon is looking for a Chief Financial Officer who will be primarily responsible for handling all portfolios across Australia, including evaluation of organic and inorganic investment and divestment opportunities, quantification and execution of productivity initiatives, and day-to-day management of the Commercial Risk business.

Main responsibilities

  • Analyze and complete strategic decision making and provide financial guidance on business decisions.
  • Aid business leaders to formulate and operationalize strategy via development of business cases, identifying areas to connect all of Aon in support of clients, and assess the impact on Aon's financial goals and contribution towards our key metrics (organic growth, margin improvement, free cash flow improvement).
  • Develop deep understanding of the internal and external environment including market attributes, trends, drivers, as well as our own product offerings and market solutions. Apply competitor analysis, benchmarking, heat maps, and local market planning tools and techniques
  • Drive utilization and improvement of key design-support tools, processes, and metrics, including client profitability, pricing analysis, fee allocation model, and capacity management.
  • Review and provide input on financial forecast, including in-year target setting (e.g., salary targets) as well as seeking to continuously improve process / efficiency and accuracy.
  • Act with integrity and work every day in a way that positively impacts our clients, colleagues and communities. Create an environment of high standards, compliance and conduct.
  • Support compliance, risk management and litigation initiatives as needed
  • Lead, attract, and retain our teams, assist in the progression of their role, and drive engagement across the team
  • Challenge and create healthy debate with business partners on critical decisions, to pressure test ideas and assumptions. Present alternatives when appropriate.
  • Articulate sophisticated finance concepts clearly, translate for leader consumption, and communicate such effectively.

How will this role be different?

  • Strategic Planning, Financial Analysis and Execution - In partnership with Asia Pacific CFO and the Australia Executive Leadership team to develop strategic plans and conduct business analysis to support corporate objectives.
  • Drive Financial Excellence - Enable colleagues to deliver value to clients by leveraging financial capabilities to create capacity for our colleagues that are leading client portfolios. In addition, deliver controls around cash management.
  • Lead Risk & Colleague Welfare - administer and drive a strong risk management culture, framework, and reporting structure.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent
  • Minimum of 15 years related experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with capability to interact with internal clients to cultivate and maintain strong relationships at a most senior level
  • Excellent communicator (both verbally and in writing)
  • Commercial and business driven mentality with high level of accountability for efficiency and client satisfaction
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; able to multi-task and lead projects and direct reports
  • Ability to drive team(s) to deliver the highest in service, quality, and results
  • Ability to embrace and inspire change in support of the business unit's and company's goals
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to make sound business decisions
  • Known problem-solver who anticipates issues and suggests creative solutions
