AddressOn behalf of the Insurance Commission of WA, Derwent is delighted to invite applications for the position of Chief Investment Officer. The Insurance Commission is a State-owned Government Trading Enterprise that provides motor injury insurance to almost two million Western Australian motorists and manages multiple classes of insurance and self-insurance for Western Australian Government agencies.
The Insurance Commission generated $2 billion in revenue and earnings in 2023. Over 40,000 new insurance claims were received during the year. The total value of outstanding claims is over $5.5 billion. Delivering more than $2 billion in dividends to the State over the past decade and with total assets of more than $7.5 billion, the Insurance Commission is a substantial self–funded entity and one of the largest financial services institutions in Western Australia. Insurance Commission investment returns in 2023 were over $500 million.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, this position is a strategic leadership role with accountability for leading the Investment Division.
As a member of the Insurance Commission Executive, you will bring proven capabilities leading and managing a high performing team. To achieve the long-term Investment requirements of the Insurance Commission, you will drive the development and implementation of investment strategies.
To be a strong contender for this role, applicants should possess a strong understanding of economics and demonstrate proven expertise in both Investment Markets and Investment Strategies. You will have the ability to effectively lead Investment strategy in a manager of manager’s environment, be able to work collaboratively with key stakeholders, have highly developed communication skills, and an interpersonal style that engenders trust and respect.
