The Chief Speech Pathologist and Manager, Speech Pathology is accountable for the overall leadership, management, development, co-ordination and delivery of all acute, subacute, palliative, residential care and outpatient Speech Pathology services across the multiple sites of St. Vincent’s.
Duties include:
Leading and managing all staff/students to promote high patient care standards and facilitate quality improvement.
Developing, maintaining and ensuring all staff/students adhere to organisational and Speech Pathology Policy and Procedures and guidelines, which reflect current standards of professional practice.
Developing, monitoring and maintaining high standards of clinical practice for all clinical areas.
Ongoing review of systems and processes and implementation of improvements in a timely manner as appropriate.
The classification range for this position is Speech Pathologist Grade 4 VW24 - VW27 ($121,186 - $133,530 per annum).
Your Contribution
Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), or Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent
Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia and commitment to Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics
Current national criminal history check, or willing to obtain
Experience at a Manager/Senior clinical level, including leadership and management of Speech Pathologists
Clinical expertise demonstrated through research knowledge, new developments, evidence-based practice and clinical practice guidelines
Highly developed interpersonal skills incorporating excellent communication and negotiation skills

About Speech Pathology
The Speech Pathology Department is committed to providing high quality Speech Pathology services to patients with communication and swallowing disorders at St. Vincent’s. The Speech Pathology team provides services across the continuum of care, over multiple campuses. The department is located across the two main campuses: St Vincent’s Hospital in Fitzroy and St George’s Health Service in Kew, and it is expected that the Chief Speech Pathologist and Manager Speech Pathology will have a regular presence at both these sites.
