Join our team as Chief Steward at The Star Brisbane.
The Star Brisbane, positioned at the heart of the new Queen's Wharf Brisbane precinct, will be Australia's newest entertainment and leisure destination. Commencing a staged opening in 2024, The Star Brisbane will bring a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre, transforming how people will play, shop and socialise in the river city.
The Chief Steward, reporting to the Director of Culinary offers a unique opportunity to lead the stewarding team to meet high standards of cleanliness in all kitchens and back of house areas and build procedures and processes for improved results and efficiencies including utilisation of additional equipment, resources and industry best practises. You will champion not only regulatory obligations, but help drive team engagement, culture, and maximise performance.
A few of your responsibilities

  • Managing efficient and effective stewarding services to food production areas as directed and in compliance with The Star OH&S and HACCP
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development within your team
  • Forecasting and control of the monthly P&L for your department
  • Accountable for all regulations relating to occupational health and safety, hygiene, security, and fire safety
  • Foster a winning, solution-oriented work environment, motivating and engaging team members to continuously deliver the best possible service to our guests in line with The Star values
What we will be looking for
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of WH&S
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships
  • High volume or multi outlet experience highly regarded
About you
You will be an experienced leader with a strong attention to detail and high standard of safety measures who will enjoy working within the food and beverage department collaboratively. Your enthusiasm and drive to lead and develop a high performing and diverse team is integral to the success of The Star Brisbane's objectives. Your background in back of house kitchen environments will put you in good stead for this role and will see you thrive in this busy environment.
As we move to The Star Brisbane you will be critical in leading the team through transition, whilst setting and maintaining the highest service and safety standards. It is also an important part of this role to foster positive relationships, drive change, and communicate effectively.

About us
The $3.6 billion Queen's Wharf Brisbane development is being delivered by Destination Brisbane Consortium - a joint venture led by The Star Entertainment Group alongside its partners.
