If you’re a Senior Level IT Manager with extensive experience in setting and leading the technology strategy for an organisation as well as providing an executive-level interface between the technology department and the rest of the business, then this exciting opportunity is a chance for you to make your mark whilst working for a supportive, global company, and an industry leader.
What’s the role?
As the leader of the country IT organisation, you will be accountable to drive the strategic IT agenda and for the delivery of all IT and Information Management (IM) services to Shell’s Integrated Gas business across Australia. This CIO position provides executive level visibility and you will be the working closely with the EVP, VPs and their Leadership teams to translate business requirements into Information & Technology strategies and plans.
Also, you will be advocating the competitive, innovative, and functional IT capabilities with business stakeholders. In addition, you will drive the adoption and deployment of IT solutions in support of business goals and influence business value outcomes through effective use of technology, information and data.
You will be directly leading a senior level team of IM & IT professionals and indirectly a diverse community which is comprised of around 60 Shell staff and around 100 contractors. This role can be based in either Shell’s Perth or Brisbane offices. Your key focus areas and responsibilities for this role are as follows:
Relationship Management: Leads the natural team in IT, drives a One-Team mindset, and works closely with senior business stakeholders to understand and influence how IT and the business can align strategic success goals, challenging the business to deliver value for IT dollars invested.
Business Intelligence: Understands the Business and Industry landscape and then delivers thought leadership and contributes to business decisions through strong relationships, business and IT understanding and external market perspectives.
Integrated IT and Business Strategy: Shapes the business and IT strategy to ensure a contribution to the business top and bottom line through operational improvements, exploiting the existing IT landscape and identifying opportunities to grow and transform the business through the deployment of processes, data and technology solutions.
Innovation: Improves organisational performance through the application of original thinking leveraging technology to existing and emerging methods, processes, data, products and services.
IT Portfolio Management: Leads the demand side of IT governance in partnership with the business and communicates high-level business requirements to IT functional groups in order to deliver agreed business outcomes.
Value Generation: Ensures the delivery of value outcomes by: Applying investment discipline to IT expenditures; ensuring business changes are embedded and the business case benefits are realized.
People Development: Develop and implement resourcing and capability plans to ensure that the necessary competences and skills are available to sustain IT delivery.

What we need from you
We’re keen to hear from IT professionals who have a bachelor’s or master’s degree preferably related to Information Technology or any technical/analytical degree. Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:
Extensive corporate IT with prior IT Management experience preferably in the Energy, Mining or similar sectors.
Proven track record in leading at the Enterprise Level with top notch People Management skills to drive performance, diversity and delivery through others;
Excellent communication, presentation, and senior level stakeholder management skills coupled with the ability to build strong collaborative partnerships as well as engage and influence up to senior executive level in a complex and global organization;
Solid experience in shaping and translating a technology-enabled vison into delivery of successful business outcomes;
Demonstrated experience in developing business cases and in managing IT budgets through the IT demand management and planning process;
A strong strategic and commercial mindset.
