Programmed, in partnership with RoadTek have Bridge Construction and Maintenance traineeships available in Rockhampton QLD. As a Bridge Construction Trainee, you will be working on major infrastructure projects learning how to construct and rehabilitate concrete and timber bridges. The Traineeships attract generous above award pay rates, 3 years fulltime employment which earn annual leave, personal leave and public holidays paid whilst studying towards a Certificate III Qualification and will see you gain transferable skills for your future career pathway in the construction industry whilst being paid to learn.
RoadTek provide excellent mentoring, training and encourages teamwork and innovation within their business. RoadTek provides transport infrastructure solutions throughout Queensland as a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
Undertaking a Traineeship you will learn, but not limited to, the following:
- Concrete bridge construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance
- Concrete culvert construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance
- Steel bridge rehabilitation and maintenance
- Timber bridge rehabilitation and maintenance
- General servicing of structures and surrounds
- Bridge Inspections
- Plan and organise work
- Carry out measurements and calculations
- Read, interpret plans & specifications
- Use hand and power tools
- Operate small plant and equipment
- Control the work methods to ensure that construction work is carried out in an efficient and compliant manner
- Comply with safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment and to ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation
- Receive ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to complete a Nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Civil Construction - Structures/Bridges RII30920
Mandatory Requirements
- OHS Construction White Card essential prior to commencement
- Current Drivers Licence and reliable transport
- Can commit to working both Day and Night shifts
- Must be able to commit to working on remote projects at times
- Strong commitment to complete Traineeship
- Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative
- Prior to an offer of employment, a pre-employment medical examination 'fit for work' (including passing a drug and alcohol screen)
Other Requirements
- Passion for 'hands on work' and a genuine desire to work in construction
- General labouring experience highly desired
- Motivated and willing to learn
- Competent numeracy & literacy skills with Year 10 High school certificate
- Proven experience working within a team environment
- Commitment to complete theory/written and practical components of the qualification
Location:
Rockhampton based however work may take you to the surrounding regions which can be a roster of 10 on and 4 off on some projects - Applicants must live or close to Rockhampton to be considered for these traineeships.
