Cleaner (Alpha/Jericho)

The Opportunity

Barcaldine Regional Council are currently seeking a Cleaner for our Alpha/Jericho District.

Preferably you must have good cleaning experience, be comfortable using a range of tools. Basic cleaning experience would be desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respect and support the Council’s business teams, establishing effective working relationships

and contributing towards positive channels of communication to ensure the smooth operation of
Council’s Services in order to provide and maintain high quality community services and
facilities; * Comply with the policies and procedures of Council;

• Conduct daily and monthly workplace inspections and risk assessments and report all workplace

accidents and hazards to your line supervisor, and implement immediate action for identified
hazards if able to do so and ensure that equipment is respected and maintained to an optimal
level of safety and aesthetics; and * Project and promote the image of Council as both positive and efficient through maintaining

professional standards and presentation. * Wear gloves and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times and hygienically

clean and sterilise the facilities ensuring standards and quality guidelines are adhered to at all
times; * Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors of various types;

• Dusting ceilings, light fittings, countertops, and loose furniture;
• Scrubbing and sanitising toilets, sinks, and kitchen fixtures;
• Emptying trash cans;
• Washing and drying windows;
• Selecting and utilising appropriate cleaning agents to remove stains from surfaces;
• Applying soil-repellent chemicals and deodorisers to surfaces to remove odours;
• Reordering cleaning supplies as needed;
• Replenishing toiletries, such as toilet paper, paper towels and hand wash;
• Using chemicals, solvents, high-pressure water cleaners and other cleaning equipment, such as

wet vacuums and other suction equipment;

What's on Offer?

Location: This position is based in Alpha/Jericho, with Regional Work and Travel as required.

Classification Level: Level 3 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017 - Section 5.

Wage: Minimum base salary of $60,158 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.

Hours of work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight.

Leave Entitlements: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% Loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

Successful Applicant Requirements

• The Appointee must hold a current lawful Queensland Construction Safety Induction Card

(White/Blue Card) or equivalent; * The Appointee must hold a current QLD Class “C” Drivers Licence;

• High school diploma or equivalent is advantageous;
• Proven experience in a similar role;
• Able to use a variety of cleaning products and equipment;
