Job description

Clinical Assessor (with leadership aspirations)

Access Care Network Australia

Salary: Hourly rate starting from $49.37 ($97,564 per annum full time), plus 11% super, with generous salary packaging benefits of up to $15,899 per year. As you grow as a leader your salary will grow also.

This role is best suited to a full-time work pattern.

PLEASE NOTE: The 'Ready to Apply' section has a link to our application form should you wish to apply.

Clinical Assessment + Leadership = This Role!

It’s Sonya here, I oversee our national AN-ACC program and I am hoping to connect with people who love clinical assessment in aged care and want to grow as a leader. We have a great leadership development program and teams that are unsurpassed in the way they encourage, collaborate and support people to be their best.

So, forget other roles you are considering, if you are an RN, Physio or OT with experience working with older people for five years at some point in your career and want to be a part of one of our awesome teams, join us at ACNA!

Okay, here is some more info about the role!

What is the role?

Probably the best way to describe it is by explaining a typical week…after you have completed the leadership training with ACNA. Your typical week will then include:

  • Getting prepared for the week ahead is how you spend Mondays! You connect with your team, connect with your schedulers and connect with your assessment requests…all this connecting allows you to make decisions that ensure you have the right team in the right place at the right time…across various geographies.
  • Tuesday to Thursday are usually onsite support of your team and supporting the sector through education and information. During this time you will work beside your team and directly with clients, using your existing skills and judgement to have meaningful interactions with residents and their carers across Residential Aged Care Facilities and document this interaction using the digital tools.
  • Fridays (well most days) include meetings with your colleagues across Australia and also coordinating case conferences and meetings with your team. This builds the sense of belonging and support that comes from being part of a small team with a dedicated leader, whilst benefiting from our national ‘teams of teams’ approach.
  • Throughout work you will contribute to the future reforms in aged care using your daily work and the feedback you provide that will be shared with the Department of Health. Helping us to challenge the status quo and look for ways to make an even bigger impact.
  • And of course you will be participating in recruitment, induction and training to ensure everyone has great learning experiences!
Who are we looking for?

You are a great collaborator and ‘connector of people’. You love communicating and coaching and have dreamt of a role that gives you the chance to expand your leadership potential. You are also a great clinician and ready to spend your days focussed on leading a team that conducts assessments that represents the voice and needs of an older person.

People will have called you all sort of different names. Authentic. Fun. Genuine. Brilliant. Approachable. A little bit cheeky. Helpful. Caring. Lovely. Relentless.

In your spare time we’re likely to find you daydreaming about new ways to create an impact on people’s lives.

Sound Interesting?

We have a recruitment process full of activities so you can try the role on for size. To help you consider your suitability for these roles, we have included the Position Description and the Minimum Criteria that relates to this project. There are two key aspects of the Minimum Criteria: You need to be a qualified and AHPRA registered RN, OT or Physio and you will have experience in the aged care sector, which could have been at any stage of your career and in any context. Everything else we provide the training for – there is a structured program of learning for your first month with ACNA.

Before starting work with us, as part of the compliance process, you will need to undertake a national police check, complete a pre-placement health questionnaire and undergo reference checks, provide evidence of your drivers licence, COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people in some cases.

Hear from your future colleagues about how they joined ACNA and what they value about their role in our little Podcast! [insert as link https://open.spotify.com/show/5hIL7D7rFaVs11TWC1boj5?si=3f4d15f9589d404f ]

About ACNA

Our charter says…

Access Care Network Australia provides assessment, coordination and case management services to connect eligible people with supports that build on their strengths.

But don’t let the jargon fool you.

We're in business to change lives.

We do that by helping our clients (and their families) get the support they need to live life their way.

What does it take to do what we do?

3 things. People. People and people.

First, only hire in the words of clients – “amazing beautiful souls” and never, ever, break that rule! Our recruitment process is unashamedly tough (and our training is even tougher!) because what we do at ACNA is a privilege – not an obligation.  So, we only hire people when we are absolutely confident they’ve got what it takes to make a difference. Think you do?  Then join us!

Something else that is good to know about ACNA – we love all ages and all life stages. If you need a little bit of flexibility and want to be part of a team that bubbles with life experiences, that’s us!

Last of all, you need to measure success in people, not data points. We’re yet to find a data point that captures the life-changing impact of an assessment that gives a daughter’s 92-year-old father the renewed confidence to live independently. But each and every day we get a front row seat to these amazing client stories that remind us all why we’re here (and the life-changing power of really great assessments!).

With all our focus on people you might get the impression we’re anti-technology.  Not at all! But in delivering over 400,000 assessments we’ve found technology comes second to the power of conversation.

What makes us tick?

Simple. We want people to be their best.

But at ACNA this isn’t something we just write on a poster: ‘being our best’ is a way of life. It’s our credo. It’s a life-long personal commitment to be…

Always learning

Always growing

Always sharing

We can only achieve when our teams are truly reflective of the diverse communities we serve. The more diverse and inclusive our teams are, the better we are at serving people from every background.

If you require adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please contact ***********@acna.org.au using the subject line: Clinical Assessor enquiry via SEEK or 1300 972 920 to discuss.

Simply answer the survey we have created to collect all the necessary information by copying this link into your browser. https://acnavalues.typeform.com/to/ALJSixJH. No letter or response to selection criteria is required, but do be ready to attach your CV

Once you apply we will check your application and then contact you about the next stages of the process. Our recruitment process is a little different to most! We use lots of activities to give you an opportunity to understand the way of working and your typical day. We start to get to know you through your application, then we move into group video discussions and end the process with a day of activities. We look forward to welcoming our new team members in late January or early February 2024!

Applications are always open as our team keeps growing! To join our next group you will need to have your application in on 9 January 2024. We won't be reviewing applications until then whilst we break for the festive season and recharge our batteries! If you don’t make it by this date…never fear, we will definitely still read your application!
