The role:
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Patient Safety contributes to the successful positioning of the Quality and Patient
Safety service through the provision of high quality, accountable and measurable healthcare both internally and
externally, by supporting the clinical areas to operate effective clinical services in accordance with the Department
of Health and Quality and Patient Safety objectives.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant- Patient Safety will:
- Provide leadership and expertise in the development, implementation and evaluation of Patient Safety and quality initiatives, whilst fostering a culture of safety and learning for improvement.
- Apply the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards to ensure the provision of high quality, accountable, and measurable healthcare by advising and coordinating the Hospitals South to meet patient clinical safety and hospital accreditation processes.
- Foster a culture that strives for excellence in safe patient care through collaboration, support, education, learning, research, and workforce development using a Safety and Quality framework.
- Facilitate a Patient Safety ethos with all employees within Hospital South to achieve an organisational culture, in which Patient Safety and clinical risk management becomes an integral part of core business.

The Royal Hobart Hospital, the function and the role:
- The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest public hospital in the state , operating at a level 6 capability to provide acute inpatient and outpatient surgical services for the Tasmania Health Service Hospitals South (THS Hospitals South) and is the tertiary referral for complex patients from THS Hospitals North and North West.
- The Quality And Patient Safety Function is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating Patient Safety and quality initiatives. The Quality and Patient Safety Service Function is committed to Excellence for our staff and community.
- The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Quality and Patient Safety Service contributes to improving outcomes for our consumers through supporting the delivery of best practice based care and promoting continuous quality improvement.
Details of Appointment
Permanent, part time, day worker position working 64 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $111,506- $118,336 pro-rata per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Holds, or is working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications
Current Driver’s Licence
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
