Join Aruma's growing Clinical Practice and Governance Unit as a Clinical Nurse and play a vital role in ensuring high standards of clinical safety across our organisation. You'll work to enhance the health and wellbeing of those we support by conducting clinical assessments for participants with complex health needs, providing guidance to staff on health support practices, and advocating for participants' safe and effective healthcare access and engagement.
A day in the life of a Clinical Nurse…
- Perform clinical assessments for participants with high medical and complex health needs.
- Advise and instruct staff on providing effective health support.
- Advocate for individual participants' engagement with the healthcare system.
- Contribute to systemic advocacy initiatives with key partners to improve health outcomes for people with disabilities.
- Conduct clinical assessments to identify and address support gaps for participants with complex health needs.
- Implement strategies to improve primary care navigation and prevent hospital admissions.
- Provide clinical advice for hospitalised participants and ensure continuity of support during care transitions.
- Consult with Aruma forums and committees on participant health support needs.
- Ensure competency and compliance for High Intensity Daily Personal Activities.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives for better health outcomes.
- Serve as a clinical leader and mentor for future Registered Nurses within the Unit.
- Assist the Clinical Manager in advancing the Unit's objectives and monitoring progress.
What you need to be successful in this role...
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Intellectual disability nursing training or qualification.
- Ability to utilise data collection tools, analyse information, and prepare reports.
- Significant experience with adults and children with complex or high medical support needs.
- Knowledge and experience in clinical health assessment, planning, and advocacy for people with disabilities.
- Understanding of supported decision-making and the rights of people with disabilities, including consent to treatment.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practice in intellectual disability and children's out-of-home care services.
- Experience in delivering and evaluating health procedure training for support staff
- In-depth knowledge of health and disability sectors, including NDIS funding and compliance.
- Experience coordinating care for individuals with complex needs across multiple services.
- Leadership skills to engage and support Registered Nurses and Disability Support Workers.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills, with initiative and strategic thinking.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Capacity to travel as required.
