The Special Care Nursery operates a 24 hour per day 7 days per week service. The unit supports the division of Women Children’s and Families providing a care in a level 4 service capability framework to infants born in the West Moreton region over 32 weeks gestation. This busy nursery has 14 cots 4 of which are high dependency. The unit works closely with the multidisciplinary team including maternity and paediatric services and tertiary partners.

About the role
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to Special Care Nursery within Ipswich Hospital.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of Special Care delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity and respect for all patients, carers and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
