The Position

St John of God Bunbury Hospital located in the south west of Western Australia, is regarded as one of the finest private hospitals outside the metropolitan area.

With 145 beds and more than 330 highly qualified medical practitioners, our health care facility caters for a variety of medical and surgical admissions, palliative care, maternity services, plus allied health and community-based services.

We are seeking experienced Renal Dialysis Nurses to join our Dialysis Unit in the role of Clinical Nurse. The Clinical Nurse provides clinical expertise and local leadership to ensure that safe and high quality patient care is delivered. The Clinical Nurse utilises the Scope of Practice Decision Making Framework in the delegation and supervision of registered and enrolled nurses. The Clinical Nurse supports the Renal Nurse Unit Manager and ensures the Mission and Values are upheld in the Renal Unit at both SJG Bunbury and at the SJG Busselton Dialysis Unit.

To be considered for this role applicants must have five (5) years of Haemodialysis specific experience and expert AVF/AVG cannulation skills. Applicants must also have a valid Australian Driver's licence, as successful applicants will rotate between the Bunbury and Busselton Dialysis Units.

Applicants that demonstrate post graduate renal nursing qualifications and/or acute haemodialysis or critical care experience will be looked upon favourably.

There are multiple positions available, with contracts available from part time 36 hours per fortnight up to full time 76 hours per fortnight. Hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate(s).

The successful candidate(s) will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife.
  • Three years' relevant post registration experience.
  • Recent acute clinical practice in a relevant environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Well-developed skills in communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving.
  • A knowledge of and commitment to quality improvement and risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
