The Role

Are you a compassionate and dedicated nurse ready to make a difference in the lives of patients requiring renal care? Port Lincoln Hospital is seeking passionate nurses to join our Renal Unit and provide exceptional nursing services.

As a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse in the Renal Unit, you'll have the opportunity to excel in a variety of health service settings, utilising your experience to deliver high-quality care. 


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing nursing and/or midwifery services to patients in the Renal Unit
  • Developing from a novice to a proficient level of professional practice through continuous professional development and experience.
  • Accepting accountability for your own practice standards, activities delegated to others, and guiding the development of less experienced staff.
  • Providing specific haemodialysis services to a group of patients in a Nurse-led Satellite Renal Unit.
  • Supporting the development and learning of less experienced staff, ensuring the highest standards of nursing care are maintained.
  • As the Clinical Nurse, you will provide clinical nursing care, oversee the provision of nursing/midwifery care within the Renal Unit, provide complex emergency care independently and as part of a team, and participate in clinical teaching. 


Positions available:

  • Ongoing Full Time as a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse (classification level will be determined by knowledge and experience)
  • Temporary Part Time as a Registered Nurse (40 hours per fortnight, up to 3 January 2025)


You will be Registered as a Nurse or Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with experience in the haemodialysis of patients in a Renal Unit or like.

Port Lincoln Hospital a modern 48-bed hospital complete with Special Care unit, Chemotherapy/Renal dialysis Unit and Operating Rooms facilities. There is a wide range of visiting surgeons and the facility provides medical, special care, surgical, obstetric, palliative care and services for children. Situated in a beautiful coastal location, Port Lincoln Hospital is one of four rural general hospitals in South Australia, and has a range of clinical specialties along with a large and stable workforce.
