About the PositionAn excellent opportunity has become available for Casual Relief Coal Samplers to work at the Abbot Point Coal terminal. We are looking for enthusiastic local people who are looking for an opportunity to be trained as a Coal Sampler to become a part of the Ports team based in Bowen.
Position Synopsis
Reporting to the Ports Supervisors, the position requirements include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe & efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions.
- Enter validated results into the reporting system.
- A range of analytical tests including Total Moisture
- A range of physical tests including sample preparation, crushing, dividing and sample storage.
Full training will be provided to successful candidates. However, to be considered for this position, you will have:
- A strong focus on safety, quality and team work.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Good grasp of computers/technology including spreadsheets.
- Comfortable with manual handling duties.
- Ability to work to a flexible roster and willingness to work 12-hour day or night shifts.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Competent within a strong safety culture.
