College Motto: The LORD is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? (Psalm 27:1)
Overnewton Anglican Community College has proud Christian origins, having been founded by Anglican clergy and a passionate community of parents, seeking a quality education in a Christian environment for the children of Melbourne’s north-west. Since that time, we have warmly welcomed to our community many faiths and cultures from around the world. We cherish the opportunity to include, respect and learn from others, whilst being firm in our vision for sharing the gospel and Anglican faith, allowing it to inform our values.
The College Chaplain will have responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the College’s chaplaincy program, including overseeing and speaking at regular chapel services and special events, providing pastoral care, and contributing richly to the life of the College. This role provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate as, under the new Principal, we seek to build upon our existing programs, Christian culture and external stakeholder relationships. At Overnewton College we believe that individual and collective wellbeing relies upon personal resilience, strength of character, quality relationships and a shared language of emotional and psychological literacy. Central to human flourishing is our sense of meaning and purpose, which is inextricably linked with our Anglican identity and learning journeys. As a key member of the College Leadership Team, the College Chaplain will work closely with other senior leaders to evolve our focus on holistic wellbeing, inclusive of our spiritual development. Together, the team works to develop and implement a College-wide vision and strategy for the spiritual life of our students, staff and families.
This position has a teaching load of up to 0.2 FTE, which is regarded as a significant aspect of the role. It is intended that this teaching allocation would sit within the Religious Studies area. The College will work with the successful applicant to ensure they are suitably qualified to take up this aspect of the role. This may include, for example, completing post-graduate studies in education to become a registered teacher, should this be required.
Full details pertaining to the role and the application process can be found via our College Website.
