The Role:
The Commercial Analyst is accountable to the Manager, Investment Analysis & Policy and will:

  • Provide commercial insights to InvestSA and other stakeholders which support complex and significant investment attraction projects.
  • Conduct research on investment trends, market conditions, and economic indicators to identify potential investment opportunities and inform investment attraction strategies.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of commercially relevant data and key intelligence which will be used in the agency's investment attraction documentation.
  • Perform financial analysis, including benchmarking South Australia's investment attractiveness to other jurisdictions, to evaluate investment opportunities and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support high level consultation and reporting obligations, to ensure the ongoing achievement of the department, state, and national targets.
  • Contributing to the delivery and maintenance of efficient work practices and a positive working environment within the team.

About You:
To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities: 

  • Providing timely, accurate and well-presented informational advice and rational analysis of relevant investment data and providing advice and assistance in the interpretation of data.
  • Conducting high level research and analysis on complex investment attraction issues, trends, and relevant companies, and developing expert reports and advice for the Minister, Chief Executive, senior management, and other stakeholders, to support investment decisions.
  • Contributing to the development, collection, and maintenance of high quality quantitative and qualitative data to support successful investment outcomes.
  • Developing and maintaining professional and productive relationships with other teams within the department, other departments and agencies and the Australian government.

Desirable Qualification:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Commerce, Finance, Economics, International Business, Business Management or Accounting).

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
