Commercial Finance Analyst
Chiswick, West London (2 days per week) Hybrid
About the role
This role will support the creation and provision of valuable financial information and commercial insight for the Knowledge division to support effective decision-making. You will support the business planning process (including 3-5 year plans, budgets, and forecasts) and to perform a variety of month end processes and activities to ensure the division has robust and timely accounting records.
This is a full-time role reporting to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Commercial Finance:
- Responsible for financial management of cost centres, undertake cost centre reviews for various costs centres to track expenses and pro-actively investigate anomalies and variances.
Budget Management:
- Support the budgeting process for specific business areas, working closely with departmental heads to ensure alignment with overall business objectives, providing analysis and insights.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Computing and commenting on variances, giving insight to report recipients.
Month End:
- Preparation, checking and posting monthly journals.
- Ensure cost centre tracking and reporting is accurate, reconciled, with variances computed and understood, calling out any remediation or actions as required by the analysis.
- Reconciling Balance Sheet accounts (as and when required).
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) with 1-2 years finance experience
- Strong technical skills including Excel and General Ledger experience (SAP preferred)
- Numerate and analytical with the ability to work with complex data sets and an eye for detail
- Confident, capable and credible with effective communication, influencing and persuasiveness skills
- Team player with positive 'can do' attitude, solution orientated and goal driven
- Excellent prioritisation & organisation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and wider business stakeholders
