We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Program Manager at the Perth CBD Office, on a 12-month Full-Time Maximum Term basis.


About this role

As the Commercial Program Manager you will be responsible for the establishment and implementation of an overarching strategic plan for Western Power’s external decarbonisation and network growth requirements to include complex commercial negotiations for infrastructure programs and projects.

This key role will provide commercial leadership in ensuring the appropriate contracting arrangements are established and implemented to facilitate the delivery of large scale infrastructure projects to support Western Power’s energy transition.

Initially a 12-month opportunity for the successful candidate, this will be achieved through responsibility of the following activities;
 

  • Identification and development of commercial opportunities for large infrastructure programs and projects which are aligned to our regulatory requirements.
  • Managing the complexity of internal/external interests and priorities to ensure optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Matrix management of internal experts to ensure appropriate inputs to achieve overall commercial objectives.
  • Complex commercial negotiations on infrastructure projects to deliver best value to Western Power.
  • Understanding of the complex regulatory environment and potential reputational impact to Western Power
  • Development and implementation of long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the assigned Commercial program.
  • Lead, coordinate and manage Western Power’s commercial process for large infrastructure projects to enable successful contract establishment and delivery.
  • Ensure that Commercial Program activities operate in line with internal policies, frameworks and procedures.
  • Ensure that Commercial Program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Successful risk management of commercial, regulatory, reputational, legal and safety risks.
  • Responsible for sustainable commercial solutions that achieve the best commercial outcome for Western Power.
  • Responsible for managing complex negotiations and resolve conflicts and disputes through to the agreed business resolution for Western Power.


About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Degree qualified in Procurement, Contract, Business, Finance and/or related discipline and/or extensive suitable demonstrated experience.
  • Strategic thinking with a passion for driving commercial success to contribute to our commitment to sustainable and innovative energy solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing and executing contract strategies including ECI, EPC and strategic relationship-based arrangements and plans to generate value.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and managing supplier relationships to generate value beyond the contract.
  • Strong influencing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of risk and compliance management and its application with respect to procurement.
  • Demonstrated complex negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong contract management skills.
  • Demonstrated customer and results focus.
  • Knowledge and experience in Contract Law, Construction Law, Australian Consumer Law and related legislation and regulations.
  • Deep understanding of Australian Standard suite of contracts (including construction and supply, delivery and installation of equipment of goods) and general services type agreements.
  • Demonstrated high conceptual and analytical skills.
