Commercial/Property Transaction Lawyer - Sydney CBD

We offer an exciting opportunity for a 5-year post-admission commercial/Property Transaction Lawyer to join our busy commercial law firm.  The position offers you the opportunity to work in a team environment under the direction of two Director Principals in a busy and interesting commercial and tax law practice.

CharterLaw’s principal areas of practice are commercial law, tax law (advisory and controversy), property law, contract law, trust law, corporate law, insolvency law and trade practices.

Property work includes:


Purchases and Sales of property, residential, commercial, retail and industrial

  • Industrial, residential, and retail developments
  • Commercial, industrial, and retail leasing for both landlord and tenant
  • Providing advice on sale and purchases of land contracts – including off‑the‑plan transactions.
  • complex Property Transactions (including drafting, negotiating, and transacting put and call option agreements, vendor financing agreements, easements and contracts for development site acquisition; 

Commercial work includes:

  • Share sale/purchase agreements;
  • asset sale/purchase agreements;
  • shareholder and unit holder agreements; 
  • retail and commercial leasing;
  • employee share plans and option agreements;
  • general commercial drafting and negotiation of various agreements (including management agreements, service agreements, licence agreements, terms and conditions and share sale agreements

The successful applicant will possess integrity, have an inquiring mind, and will display the enthusiasm and drive to be an outstanding future legal practitioner.   Ideally, you will have a commerce degree, preferably with exposure to accounting, finance and business subjects and a law degree that encompasses equity, property, commercial and corporate law subjects.   

You must possess good oral and written communication, good drafting and interpersonal skills as you will be dealing (under supervision) with commercially aware clients and will be directly involved in commercial negotiations with other practitioners.

A market salary commensurate with your proven experience and skill set will be negotiated.
