My client is a Technology Provider with German headquarters and with field offices in the US, Canada and Australia. They design autonomous control systems for large industrial equipment, especially in the mining and bulk material handling sector.
Job description
Reporting to the Director Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to their Australian clients, commissioning new systems, and maintaining existing ones both remotely and on-site. Among others, the candidate will work on collision avoidance and autonomous control systems for shiploaders and stacker/reclaimers. As each project is unique your responsibilities will go well beyond changing configuration files, you'll work as part of a global software development team right in the core of their code. But writing code and mastering technology will only be part of your job. You will also coordinate with suppliers and service providers, plan installation and commissioning with our clients.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical support to customers, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to bulk material handling equipment, such as shiploaders, stackers, and reclaimers.
- Analyse both ASCII and binary log data in order to identify faults and anomalies.
- Commission new equipment and systems, ensuring that they are installed and operated correctly and safely.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure its optimal performance and to avoid unplanned downtime.
- Coordinate with suppliers and service providers to ensure timely delivery of spare parts and services required for maintenance and repairs.
- Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of equipment and systems.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and service activities.
- Provide regular reports to management on the performance and status of equipment and systems.
- A hands-on, safety-oriented professional with strong technical, communication, and project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering related field (e.g., software, electrical, control systems). Candidates with significant work experience without a formal degree will be considered as well.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical support, maintenance, or commissioning.
- Prior experience with 3d Lidar and RTK GPS systems (advantageous)
- Ability to work independently for extended periods of time as well as part of a local and a global team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Robust knowledge in information technology
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, both within Australia and internationally.
