The Project
John Holland, CPB Contractors and Ghella Joint Venture (JCG) has commenced design and construction work for the Sydney Metro West - Eastern Tunnelling Package (ETP).
ETP includes the construction of 3.5-kilometre tunnels under Sydney Harbour between The Bays and the Sydney CBD, and the excavation of Pyrmont and Hunter Street stations. This is the final piece in the puzzle to deliver the city-shaping Sydney Metro West project.

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Communication Technician. Based on site in Sydney reporting to the Electrical Superintendent.
This role will require management of multiple sites including the site establishment planning and staging of communications and emergency systems in a Construction / Underground environment. Provide communication solutions, support and instruction to site teams as requested. Support and assist all stakeholders internal and external with knowledge on the implemented systems.
Skills and Experience:
- 5 years + previous construction experience, similar role on major projects.
- Substantial industry experience in Trade and Construction.
- Cert III telecommunications or higher.
- ACMA Open Registration cabling License with endorsements for Cat 5/6, Optic Fibre.
- Ability to read plans, complete as built and basics design drawings and layouts.
- Networking knowledge commissioning and troubleshooting of Radio, Wi-Fi networks, Routers, Firewalls and Switches)
- Terminating and testing Data and Coaxial cables.
- Testing and patching of ethernet and fibre cabling.
- Server and PC knowledge (including VM's, Application databases).
- CCTV commissioning troubleshooting and Access Control knowledge.
- Ensure Safety is at the forefront of every task and sign and complete all relevant documents (SWMS, TRA's and Start Cards).
